Linwood Motors

Company History

Linwood Motors is located in Frome Somerset, our MOT testing station is ideal for customers located in Trowbridge, Warminster, Corsley, Bath and Shepton Mallet.

Other memorabilia at the garage includes a group wearing late Victorian dress, seated in an early motor car, in what is now the MOT parking area. It is believed the driver is Mark Henry Scott, and the small boy his nephew, Jack Scott. Also, a small flyer shows an original advertisement for Scott's commercial vans. At a time when road transport would have been growing at a great pace, it would appear that M Scott capitalised on demand by converting early Ford cars into light delivery vans.

The business remained in the Scott family until 1969, when Rodney Cuff, who founded the South West Platinum group of dealerships, bought it. Since then, the garage has changed hands three times and is now owned by Jason Dors and Mark Lewis. "We'd love to know if anyone does know exactly who the people in the photographs are or if there are any more pictures there," said Mr Dors. "What we do know is that this garage has been MOT-ing vehicles since the test was first introduced by the Ministry of Transport in 1960. "Some of our customers have been coming here for 30 years and we get everything from vans and runabout cars to Triumph motorbikes, vintage Bristols and even a Rolls-Royce with wheels constructed from wood. "We use the very latest diagnostic equipment but like to think that the standard of our service is the sort which will ensure this garage stays in business for another century."
